First International Post! And It's Masculine Monday!

Buongiorno de Italie! Or however you would say that in a grammatically correct fashion; I am not Italian and I only took French in school. My sister and I are doing our best, though, and usually when we try our pitiful (PITIFUL) Italian, the nice locals will respond in English to make us feel less stupid, and to help us buy their products. Good business sense! Anyway, I'm currently in an Internet Café, and it's our second day in Florence. On our first day, we got lost looking for the fancy restaurant we had reservations at, and ended up in this tiny pizza place. At first, we were disappointed. Then we tried the food and swore off all American pizza forever and always. IT WAS AWESOME. Apparently in Italy, even the tiny, 5 Euro pizza joints serve AMAZING FOOD. If you ever find yourself in Florence, stop by La Ghiotta (Via Pietrapiana, 7r. I don't know what that means; I believe it's an address. It's on their card.). (Also, my favorite moment of the evening was when my sister got her food like 10 minutes before me, then finished it, and I still didn't have my pizza. Then our waiter walks by like four times. On the fifth time, he stops, looks at the order that he had written out and placed on our table, and shouts "He forgot your pizza!" I DIED.)

Anyway, so the first MMer is a guy we met on the plane: Matteo. He is an Italian guy who had just lived for a year in London "to improve his English," but also because after that he got a job working as an internet marketing person. He talked to us for the whole plane ride and taught us how to pronounce basic Italian words, and he wrote down the names of foods we needed to try. He was very adorable and he had a straw hat on that said Mad(rid) About You! and he was wearing an inexplicable fanny pack and was super nice. We taught him about the American education system and he taught us that Italians value cars so much that sometimes they will spend all their savings on them. He also said that it was strange, to an Italian, that we didn't live at home anymore, because for them it's difficult to leave their mamas' good cooking. We said it was difficult for us too, but that was just how American culture worked. He seemed a little sad for us.

So to sum up, Thanks Matteo, we would be much more pathetic without you!

Ok. So to have a second MMer that goes with the theme of past ones (aka is not just some dude I met), but because I am not tied into pop culture right now, as the hotel I'm staying at is, let's say, quaint (cute and cozy, but not so much with the technology) I'm going to pull out an old favorite and give him some new credit: Paul Rudd. Paul Rudd is Joogly Bear's favorite person; she is in love with Mike, Phoebe's husband from friends. Paul is the star of many great movies, including Clueless, I Love You Man, Role Models, and the movie he was in with Jennifer Aniston which no one has ever heard of except me, The Object of My Affection, in which he plays a gay dude who Jenny is in love with. GREAT FILMS. In Paul's honor, please go rent or buy or steal one of his movies. And here's a clip of him on Jon Stewart for your viewing pleasure. Ciao!

Obsessive Much? Andy Samberg

Ok, who's surprised that Katie D. loves Andy Samberg? He's funny, he knows and works with Justin Timberlake, he was adorable on Ellen, and he's JEWISH. COME ON. He's also all jaw-liney and wears glasses and has that great Jew hair... swoon. Shockingly, he's not like 22 as he appears. He's really 30. Weird, I know. I never thought he's be older than Justin (who is 8 years older than me (28), which I realized when I was 8 and he was 16 and I decided that it was an ok age difference and we could still get married when I got older. Yeah, I plotted then too) but you learn new things every day. For instance, a little while ago, on Mother's Day, I realized that he and Justin did a sequel to their hit song and loving ballad "Dick in a Box" which is called "Mother Lover." (Below.) Then today, I learned that he will be starring in the film adaptation of Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, which is a FUCKING PHENOMENAL children's book that I take to camp with me and read to small children during down time. Classic weather-borne food debacle. Anyway, he's fantastic, if you don't love him you should, watch the clip and enjoy Susan Sarandon. Also, Justin should give up already and just join SNL, he's on there all the fucking time. Omeletteville, anyone?

Kevin Bacon Wasn't Quite as Pretty

Well this one came out of left field. The powers of the production world have been searching for someone to play the lead in the remake of Footloose, the classic tale of a young man who goes to a town where he is not allowed to boogie down but who won't take no for an answer. Kevin Bacon played the lead, Ren McCormack, 25 years ago, and since they announced the remake everyone (i.e. Hollywood bitches) has been abuzz with speculation on who would take over the part. Zefron refused the role, much to my sadness because of course he is very talented and, you know, pretty. He said, basically, that he didn't want to do another musical right now. But they've found someone who, if possible, is even MORE beautiful to take the part. After weeks of negotiations, Chace Crawford, of Gossip Girl (what a blah show) fame is signed on to rock the famous role. I'm not sure if he can even dance, but he will undoubtedly bring lots of ladies to the theaters. Personally, I think he seems like one of those so-beautiful-he-gets-away-with-being-a-bit-slow guys, but maybe his acting skills will improve with the new character. I mean, in GG he basically plays a hot guy who is kind of quietly charming and doesn't do that much thinking but does do a lot of women. Which I'd imagine is kind of what he is like in real life. I'm not expecting all that much, but I'm always open to being pleasantly surprised. And it's kind of like going to see a Hugh Jackman movie, isn't it? I mean, I've heard Wolverine sucks, but if I'm watching Hugh run around half naked, who the fuck cares how the movie is? Let's just cross our fingers that there are a lot of sex scenes! Beauty below.

Oh, also in talks to be in the movie: Pocket Person Hayden Panetierre, who I liked best in Remember the Titans when she was like 5, and Amanda Bynes, who was actually really good in Hairspray. My pick is Amanda. Thoughts?

Straight Outta Compton (Retirement Center)

Gospel choirs are known for their spirit, lively music, and really awesome voices. Ghetto gospel choirs, I would assume, would be known for all of the above, but maybe with a tie to more modern music than spirituals. Elderly ghetto gospel choirs are known by me for their thrilling rendition of Ridin Dirty. I'm really excited for when they come out with their version of Single Ladies!

DanRad: Triple Threat

Actor. Singer. Lover. (of horses)
Could I be more in love with Daniel Radcliffe? No, and here's porque:
1. He's British
2. He's Harry Potter
3. This video.
So there's something called the "Gypsy of the Year Competition" that Broadway Cares puts on, and I don't know what it is but I do know that I love it. DanRad wrote/sang/danced to this lovely tune with some cast members from Equus (that horse play where he gets naked on stage), which is called "The Love That Dare Not Speak Its Neigh." If you don't know where this is going, don't worry, because it's not subtle. Daniel is the glowing fairy in the middle. And while Dan and his horsie friend are great, I do love watching the hot slinky stuff happening behind them!

And here's some more of DanRad being cheeky and British. This also shows that Dan is not quite the pocket person he appears to be, because the other guys on stage are wearing what looks to be some sort of wire hanger-platform shoe contraption. Which is comforting, I guess.
